Bartłomiej Szejny is a technology entrepreneur, independent AI researcher, and board member of AI Poland. He contributes to the development of Poland’s artificial intelligence ecosystem by combining business, technological, and strategic perspectives. His research interests focus on autonomous embodied AI agents and control mechanisms inspired by neurobiology. He is the author of the position paper “Embodied Agents in Open-Ended Environments Require a Stress-Gated Homeostatic Meta-Controller,” submitted as a preprint in the cs.AI category. The paper introduces the SGHMC architecture, which uses a slowly evolving stress variable to coordinate reactive and deliberative behavior while maintaining explicitly defined safety boundaries. The work proposes a falsifiable research programme exploring machine homeostasis as a potential foundation for the safe autonomy of AI systems operating in open-ended and unpredictable environments.
